MX Road Design

Baru sekarang aku diberi peluang untuk buat design road dengan menggunakan mx road software. Dari dulu lg aku mintak diberi peluang. Di company baru ni baru aku dapat. Alhamdulillah..

Aku pernah abiskan RM500 lebih kurang untuk belajar software ni. Tapi sekarang baru dapat buat. Cumanya, due date dia terlalu pendek. Aku rasa sekarang ni aku ni baru belajar berjalan terus disuruh berlari. Memang tak terkejar tapi aku tetap rase best sebab dapat gak guna mxroad ni.

MXroad ni ade satu masalah skit. Semua bende mesti ikut turutan. Seabagai contoh, untuk buat alignment, aku kene mula dengan:

1) buat horizontal alignment=Design -> Quick alignment -> Horizontal Design..
2) buat vertical alignment=Design -> Quick alignment -> Vertical Design..



3) buat carriageway=Design -> road design -> carriageway


4) buat earthwork=Design -> earthwork wizard


Kalau tak ikut turutan ni memang tak menjadi la highway aku. Kemudian kalau katekan aku nak betulkan balik horizontal alignment aku, aku kene delete balik semua earthwork dan carriageway aku.


Cara nak delete strings atau group strings

Kemudian lak kene betulkan vertical aku balik, buat balik carriageway dan earthwork atas horizontal alignment yg aku amended tu tadi.. Kene ikut turutan balik dari 1 hingga 4 yang aku senaraikan kat atas. Tu sebab kene betul2 study satu2 alignment tu, sebab nak perbetulkan balik mmg seksa dan makan masa. Kecuali ada orang yang pandai guna input file la. Aku tak reti guna input file. Masih lagi dalam proses berguru.

Ini perkongsian kecil je tentang MXroad software. Aku akan share lagi di masa akan datang bile aku tau bende-bende baru. Mungkin aku perlu buat ebook ke tentang mxroad ni.. Haha.. InsyaAllah kalau da cukup ilmu dan ada masa nanti.😊😊😊

Sushi King - Sudah Dapat Pensijilan Halal Jakim


Aku memang suke makan makanan jepun di Sushi King ni. Tapi restaurant ni pun tak terkecuali dari terpalit dengan pelbagai kontroversi. Sebab ramai gak yg kate restoran ni tak halal.

Aku mula2 try makan kat restoran ni mase aku keje kat Kulai Johor. Mase aku tungkus lumus buat projek kat sana. Sebab aku pun tension dan pressure keje, so aku makan la bende yg sedap dan best cam kat restoran ni.

Restoran Sushi King ni... pada aku, memang king la. Tapi tak semua aku makan kat sini. Aku suke makan mix bento dia.. Dan aku tgk kalau ada sushi yg best aku sauk gak la.

Harga pada aku agak mahal tp sebab rase dia yg best dan tak dapat cari kat tempat lain, aku sanggupkan juga la menjebakkan beberapa puluh ringgit untuk sekali makan. Selalu aku dalam sebulan sekali mesti makan sini. Satu lagi, layanan mereka pun memang umph. terbaik..

Tentang kontroversi tak halal tu berlaku sebab makanan jepun ni biasanya akan disediakan bersama mirin, iaitu sejenis alkohol yg dibuat dari beras. Walaupun Sushi King sendiri dah tak guna bahan2 beralkohol dan berkhinzir, namun yg tak yakin dan was-was tetap tak makan la. Bagus la tu.

Cuma sekarang tiada lagi la dah kontroversi tu sebab Sushi King da dapat pensijilan halal.. Tahniah buat sushi king. So, aku memang yakin dah sushi king ni memang halal. Tapi kini dengan pensijilan halal ni, aku jadi lebih lagi bertambah yakin la. Korang jangan cayer cakap aku.. ko rujuk kan website JAKIM sendiri kat sini...


Good job to sushi king. Jangan buat perangai sampai sijil halal tu ditarik balik sudah la..

Soalan-soalan yang Aku Kene Jawab Mase Interview PE (Part C)

Assalamua'alaikum dan salam sejahtera,

Kita sambung lagi al-kisah interview PE aku.. Kalau yg belum baca Part A dan Part B, silalah baca di sane dulu.

Untuk kisah kali ni adalah soalan-soalan lebih mencabar aku kene jawab dalam interview tersebut. Berbanding soalan-soalan sebelum ini, kali ini ia melibatkan pengalaman aku sebagai highway engineer designer. Kalau aku tak berjaya jawab part ni, aku kemungkinan besar akan gagal interview ni.

Memang menjadi keje interviewer ni menguji pengetahuan design dan praktikal kite sebagai engineer. Dan tugas kite lak kene la buktikan  yg kite cukup yakin dan matang untuk menjadi seorang PE. 

Note: Ape aku citer dalam ni bukan semuanye tepat. Aku sendiri pun ingat-ingat lupa ape yang disoalkan dalam interview aku. Tapi aku cuba ingatkan soalan penting-penting sedapat yang boleh.



Interviewer: So now you are working as Highway Engineer Designer for a consultant company. What are your duties as Highway Engineer Designer?
Aku: I do project management, geometric highway design, pavement design and utilities relocation.

Interviewer: What kind of project have you design? Is it new road or upgrading road?
Aku: I have design for a new road project and also for an upgrading road project.

Interviewer: Base on your technical report, you submit to us your upgrading road. Do you design this road since you only to do the upgrading right?
Aku: Yes, upgrading the existing road geometric. Currently, the road suffer from congestion as well as poor geometric vertical and horizontal combination. I also responsible to design for the solution to ease up the congestion of the road.

Interviewer: What you mean by poor geometric vertical and horizontal combination?
Aku: (masa ni aku bukak buku garis panduan Arahan Teknik Jalan (ATJ) dan garispanduan geometric dari Road Engineering Association of Malaysia (REAM)). The combination of vertical and horizontal, as shown in this guideline is very important to avoid the appearance of kink for the traffics. Because the perception during the vehicle maneuver is very important to avoid accident. Currently, with this problem, the road suffer road accident more than other roads in vicinity.

Interviewer: So now there is no accident and congestion after the road constructed right?
Aku: actually, the road is not constructed yet and still in the detail design stage.

Interviewer: Ok, I see you join the company around 2014, and the project already start on 2012. Of course the road already design by other engineer right? So, this road is not your design, you just take other people design only.
Aku: (korang tengok soalan dia. Parah gak nak bagi jawapan kalau kite betul2 tak buat design ni). Before I came in, the road only in preliminary and pre-detail design only. Most of the geometric of the road still need improvement, like as I mention to you, the vertical and horizontal alignment combination, auxiliary lanes for junctions and interchange etc. All of this need to be redesign, review and comply with the guideline like ATJ and REAM. I also need to present my design to Client and RSA to ensure that all the requirements are complied before we went for tender stage.

Interviewer: I also see that you did design for pavement for the new road right? How do you do the soil improvement?
Aku: (lagi satu soalan killer dia. Memang kene pandai jawab dan betul2 buat pavement design baru boleh jawab soalan camni). I didn't do the soil improvement. Geotechnical engineer did that part. I only assist them for soil improvement design and do the pavement design.

Interviewer: Are you sure? I think to do the pavement design, you need to do the soil treatment first?
Aku: Yes, we need to do the soil treatment first. However, the design exercise can be done separately. As long as the soil improvement can give me the value of subgrade CBR more than 12.1%, it already enough for me to do my pavement design.

Soalan-soalan yang Aku Kene Jawab Mase Interview PE (Part B)


Bile aku terlibat sebagai Water Works Engineer, aku appreciate sgt jerih perih mereka nak bagi air ade di setiap umah kite. Susah Woo..

Assalamuálaikum dan Salam Sejahtera,

Kali ni aku sambung lagi citer ape soalan-soalan interview PE yang aku kene tembak dan jawapan aku.

Note: Ape aku citer kat sini tak la tepat seperti mana mase aku interview PE aku. Ade la terlebih terkurang dalam citer ni. So, mintak halal la lebih kurang ek.

Interviewer: Tell me your experience as Water Works Site Engineer?
Aku: I work at Kulai Johor Project of 1400mm diameter pipes. Around 22km length connecting from Bukit tinggi tu Skudai. The water come water treatment plant at Semangar and to be supplied to Skudai area.

Interviewer: What is your responsibilities?
Aku: The responsibilities are quite the same as Building Site Engineer except I need to ensure the safety at site especially during the unloading of the big pipes. I need to ensure that all the Traffic Management Plan is in order before proceed with the unloading work. I need to provide the cranes for the unloading work at site.

Interviewer: So, the TMP will be the new thing to you?
Aku: Yes.

Interviewer: So, tell me what is the challenge for this project.
Aku: As I mentioned in my experience report (aku saja cakap camni, supaya interviewer tu terase skit la. Bende ni aku ade citer dalam experience report aku. AKu nak tunnjuk yang aku ni transparent la) one of the biggest challenge for this project is the land acquisition issues. According to the contract, we as the main contractor will be awarded the project stage by stage. We get when we were awarded, we will get all the portion of lands in the first stage area. 3 months from that, we will be awarded for the 2nd stage and 3 stage will be awarded in another 6 months. However, in reality, the stages were not awarded according to the contract. Therefore, my site agent and I need to do our own initiative to negotiate with the land owner for the early commencement.

Interviewer: Did you succeeded?
Aku: Some of the land owner give us permission to enter the site but some of them want to wait for the official land acquisition. So, in my opinion, some of the negotiation we succeed and some of it no.

Interviewer: How this is the challenge to your site? Why don't you just wait for the official land acquisition to settle then you enter the site?
Aku: Actually that is the correct way to handle it contractually (Aku suke guna cara ni. Setuju dulu pendapat dia kemudian baru kite lawan balik dengan fact and figure). However, it will cost us as main contractor to pay for the idling work at site. We still need to provide cost for workers' salary and maintenance of machinery. We also face the challenge to proceed with our pipe supply since there were no location at site to deliver the pipes. The pipe suppliers also need to deliver the pipes to us as soon as possible because their storage also full with our pipes alone.

Interviewer: Do you know how to design the pipe supply?
Aku: Honestly, I only know the gist of it. To design in detailed, I have no experience on that (mengaku je, korang tak failed kalau korang mengaku bende yang memang korang tak penah buat)

Interviewer: May I know what the gist that you mean?
Aku: I mean, I know what is the hydraulic gradeline, Why in some area I need to cut so deep so that the water can flow. I also know that once we install all the fittings and specials, we will cause minor head loss. I also know that our pressure test at site must be double than the design pressure for the pipes.

Interviewer: Do you know what was the pressure test for your pipes?
Aku: I.. (aku cube ingat balik, tapi lupe, alamak, camne ni).... honestly forgot sir. But if you give me the specification from the contract, in less than 5 minutes I can show to you how much is it. (interviewer to senyum je ngan jawapan aku. Yela, nak buat camne. Dah lupe)

Kemudian.. kite sambung lagi kesah ni kat Part C lak nnti ek.. Saboorr..

Soalan-soalan yang Aku Kene Jawab Mase Interview PE (Part A)


PE Interview: 2 Interviewers Dalam Satu Sesi

Assalamuálaikum dan Salam Sejahtera,

Sebelum ni aku cube cari kat mane-mane website atau blog contoh soalan interviewer tanye mane sesi interview PE. Tapi memang tak jumpe la. Jadi, aku bulldoze je la pergi interview dan bersedia la dengan segala kemungkinan soalan. Alhamdulillah aku pass. Tapi aku taknak la engineer lain termangu-mangu dan tak ready dengan soalan-soalan derang. Maka hari ni aku kongsi soalan-soalan yang aku kene (dan terkene) ketika interview PE.

Notes: Ape aku citer ni bukan la exactly happened mase interview tu. Aku pun da lupe da ape derang tnye dan ape aku jawab. Aku share sini mungkin ada tokok tambah dan mungkin ade terkurang. 

Interviewer: Tell me about yourself
Aku: I am Azizul Hawari. The youngest among my siblings. I have two brothers... etc.. (ini adalah sesi presentation. Ambil masa selama 15 minutes. Korang kene la citer pasal latar belakang diri, experience report, dan technical report yang korang nak bentangkan)

Interviewer: During your work as building site engineer, what were your duties? (interviewer tau aku penah jd building site engineer melalui experience report aku. Malah dalam presentation 15 minit mula2 tadi pun aku ada citer)
Aku: My duties are to ensure that the project can run smoothly from site level. I need to check the sufficiency of materials at site. I also need to ensure the safety of the workers, quality, planning, reporting, etc.

Interviewer: What is the challenge/problems that you encounter working as building site engineer?
(Soalan ni memang tricky, korang jangan cakap plak takde challenge. Nampak sangat korang menipu. Mane ade keje sebagai engineer takde challenge. Melainkan memang korang tak keje la kan? :-D )
Aku: I had a few challenges that I faced. One of them were the site area was prone to theft. Everyday I need to check all my materials and equipment are still in order. At one time, my Electrical Sub-cont reported to me that their cables had been cut and stole. So, I need to report the case to the nearest police station so at least we can claim for insurance. Other case like lightening protection cable been stolen. The thief tied the cable to his vehicle and drive away pulling all the cable from the ground up to the roof, even after we already hired a night guard. Another case I wish like to share here is we also lost out steel bar 12 mm diameter size around 4 tonnes. The steel bars will be used to construct our stair. Therefore, to ensure my project progress run smoothly, I proposed to our consultant to use steel bar size of 10 mm diameter (which was available at site at that time) with center to center closer than 12 mm diameter steel bar reinforcement. My proposal was accepted and the project progress run smoothly.

Interviewer: Okey, good, but what happened if your proposal to use 10 mm diameter and caused the stair collapse?
Aku: (aku senyum, sebab interviewer to buat lawak je sebenarnye). First of all, the stair is not collapse until now. (kali ni interviewer to lak senyum). But if the stair collapsed, the responsibility still fall under our consultant. Because our consultant who approved my proposal and proceed with construction. However, I believed that I already calculated the reinforcement area correctly.
(Interviewer sebenarnye nak access kite punye confident level dan kefahaman kita tentang tanggungjawab sebagai PE).

Interviewer: You state in your report that some of the starter bar 40mm size need to be bent because the positions are a little bit off. Why was that happened?
(Sebenarnye, memang aku letak isu ini di dalam report aku. Ini antara isu yang besar dan kejayaan aku berjaya selesaikan isu ini di site).
Aku: The positions are a little bit off because the surveyor that we hired gave us a wrong starter bars position.

Interviewer: So, you bent the stater bars. Who gave you the permission to bend them?
Aku: I had a few discussion with our consultant and proposed a few ways to do the mitigation. One of them was to planted a new starter bar with the help of Hilti. But that option was too expensive. So we resort to one of the options which was to bent the bar to the correct positions. Our consultant advised us to bend them not more than 100mm. Fortunately all the incorrect starter bars positions are shifted away less than 100mm.

Perbezaan Apply PE Melalui Borang IEM dengan Borang BEM

Assalamua'alaikum dan salam sejahtera semua,

Seperti yg aku janjikan sebelum ni dalam entry Part 1, aku nak cerita pasal perbezaan borang IEM dgn borang BEM.

Borang IEM kene isi dengan adanya 2 penyokong. Syarat-syarat 2 penyokong adalah seperti berikut;

1) Kedua-duanya hendaklah ade PE dan merupakan sekurang-kurangnya IEM Corporate Member (MIEM). kalau Fellow Member IEM lebih baik la.

2) Salah seorang dari mereka hendaklah ada PE dengan MIEM selama 10 tahun. Atau, PE dengan Fellow Member of IEM (FIEM). Bende ni aku call IEM sendiri cakap camni. Tapi bila aku tgk Guidance Notes IEM takde lak syarat 10 tahun tu. So, kalau ade bos/senior yang cukup syarat ni kat tempat keje korang takpe la. Kalau korang takde elok la korang tanye betul2 kat IEM. Supaya takde nyusahkan korang lak nak cari tempat keje lain yang memenuhi syarat ni kan.

3) Salah seorang dari mereka hendaklah mempunyai PE dengan MIEM (dan ke atas) yang sama bidang kejuruteraan dengan pemohon.

4) Borang IEM tidak memerlukan pemohon untuk cari balik bos lama korang, atau supervisor kat tempat kerja lama korang yang ada PE untuk sain borang korang. Bos/senior kat tempat keje korang pun dah memadai. Tapi korang kene keje la dalam dua tahun dan lebih dengan bos/senior tu. Bende ni termaktub dalam syarat IEM la. Bende ni jadi masalah untuk orang yang macam aku yang banyak melompat tempat keje. Tapi aku harap tempat keje sekarang aku terus kekal la. Tak best sebenarnye lompat-lompat ni.

Manakala Borang BEM lak korang kene:

1) Cari bos korang, atau supervisor kat tempat korang berkerja, yang ada PE untuk sain borang korang dan korang kene la keje kat situ at least 3 tahun dan ke atas. Bende ni sesuai dengan engineer yang setia dengan satu company lebih dari tiga tahun. Tak pun, engineer tu rajin la nak pergi cari balik bos-bos atau senior-senior lama balik untuk cukupkan 3 tahun korang tu.

2) Setakat aku tau, supervisor tu janji ade PE yang sama bidang dengan pemohon. Tak perlu masa 10 tahun semua tu. Itu utk IEM punye syarat.

Kalau tak cukup 3 tahun, korang kene carik balik bos-bos/senior-senior/ supervisor-supervisor yang ade PE kat tempat keje sebelum ni utk cukupkan 3 tahun tuh.

Jadi korang yang mane satu? kuat lompat ke atau setia? pilih la mane yang sesuai dengan korang.
